The
animal is ridiculous!
I truly got
no enjoyment out of this Mike Nichols directed
film featuring Jack Nicholson and Michelle
Pfeiffer. I rate it only in the "C" range,
because I'm aware that part of the problem
is...I simply didn't enjoy it.
That doesn't make it a bad film...I simply
didn't enjoy it. Certain technical aspects of
this film are fairly well done, and we have a
nice supporting cast with James Spader, Kate
Nelligan and even David Hyde Pierce.
The script by James Harrison and Wesley Strick
flows decently, but for some reason I found
myself completely unable to connect with
anything here.
Part of my challenge lied with Michelle
Pfeiffer...there simply seems to be a limited
framework of roles in which I can accept her.
This is way outside that framework.
Nicholson, on the other hand, can take the
weakest movie and make it at least moderately
interesting. He pretty much saves this one from
the doghouse. Diehard Nicholson fans will
probably find something to like here...Pfeiffer
fans...well, go ahead and try it.
Werewolf fans? You'll probably enjoy the
technical aspects of the film. However, I think
the general moviegoing audience will find this
film pretty disappointing.
