Those scary French...
Creepy, creepy, creepy! Harry is a stranger who
positively glues himself to a vacationing couple
in the French countryside... it's a simple and
conniving plot that will make you nervous
throughout. The film's only drawback is that it
takes too long to get to the good stuff.

The film
won four Cesar Awards and a BAFTA, but was
pretty much an afterthought here in the USA. Why
does it seem like Americans always want to
convince themselves they're the best at
everything? We simply don't make the best
suspense or horror films, and films like this
one prove it. Seigner is hypnotic here, and the
film's anxiety level is consistent and tiring.
I'd have to agree that the film does have a few
pacing issues, including an
over-intellectualization that drags out getting
to the "good stuff." I'd still recommend this
film for a rental. It's a French language film
with English subtitles.
