Hey,
it's better than "Battlefield Earth!"
I have
thought and thought and thought about this
review...Because, quite honestly, I just didn't
care for this film. Was it a racial issue?
definitely not. Was it some underlying political
thing? Nah. I honestly just felt the film was
histrionic, manipulative and poorly constructed.
Nobody here gives anything close to their finest
performance...Travolta? Nah, he's been way
better than this...the same is true for Harry
Belafonte. Kelly Lynch? Well, my expectations
were low anyway.
The film is written and directed by Desmond
Nakano...generally, it flows well...and makes
some incredibly powerful and astute
observations...but, it's just feel heavy-handed
to me...to the point that I stopped...well
getting the point. The script is incredibly
simple, the film's construction feels amateur.
Travolta, clearly the best thing here, elevates
the film into the "C" range but this is not a
film I will ever need to see again...and will
never refer to when talking about racism.
