Hitchcock is the master! |

Vertigo" is one of Hitchcock's best films. Combining elements of
suspense, romance, and horror, it is one of the best thrillers of all
time.
Entertainment Weekly named James Stewart's performance in "Vertigo" as
the number one Oscar snubee of all time. It's easy to agree with them
after seeing this film. Stewart is John "Scottie" Ferguson, a
detective who retires from the force after his crippling fear of
heights prevents him from helping a fellow officer. A friend hires him
to tail his wife, and to tell you anymore would be a massive
injustice.
Almost all films strive to have at least one perfect shot. "Vertigo"
has many...in fact, every scene is a perfect shot. Almost every scene
is memorable and haunting. Shots of heights are terrifying and
gut-churning. There is a magnificent use of colors and a horrifying
nightmare scene. It's all brilliant. The final shot will stay in your
memory for a long time.
Yes, Hitchcock is the master. |

Richard Propes' Comment
James
Stewart and Hitchcock together? Wow. I may need
to revisit this film, however, to see why Jacob
and TC have it in the "A" range. It's just never
struck me as "A" material. It's immensely
entertaining and well acted...but not quite an
"A" grade film.
