Cute Fairytale...

Tuck Everlasting is a nice adaptation of the classic children's novel. It's a little slow and a tad too sentimental, but the acting and beautiful cinematography do enough to make up for it. I have to admit that the film feels like a made-for-TV movie... it's just such a cutesy and doe-eyed romance!

However, I am going to give it a mild recommendation because it is gorgeous to look at and I liked the fact that it is smarter than the average teen romance. It also asks some intriguing questions about immortality.

The cast is made up of Oscar winners. Sissy Spacek and Ben Kingsley have supporting roles. But the real star is Alexis Bledel... she delivers a wonderful performance here. She may someday be an Oscar winner herself if she keeps choosing this intelligent material rather than the usual schlock chosen by her teenage peers.

Anyway... I don't think there is too much bad to be said about this film.

Richard Propes' Comment

I remember reading about a member of this cast who was convicted of child molestation. I've never been able to watch this film since that point. In reality, it is a very average adaptation of a children's book and a remarkable disappointment to many who had high hopes for this film.
