TC Candler's Review

'Tough British Men' is an Oxymoron!

When all the fight scenes are as choreographed as they are in this film, the result is just one overlong dance routine with props. Nothing appears natural or spontaneous in this attempted action film that smacks of pretentiousness. It is the classic example of a production team trying to make a cool film rather than a good film. Throw in some horrific acting and a script that would insult a pre-teen screenwriter, and the result is a messy and ridiculously laughable film that will be forgotten by the time your first popcorn belch erupts from your nauseated stomach. This movie will quickly be transported to the bottom shelf of most video stores.

Richard Propes' Comment

"The Transporter" is eye candy. If you want a film with a marvelous plot or deep insights into the amoral world of the lead character (sort of a blue collar Bond), then you've picked the wrong film. This film presents stylized action without pretense, and doesn't apologize for it. It's messy, often silly, but I found myself constantly enjoying the scenery before my eyes. Statham pulled off the role nicely, mixing his action persona with a sort of distant but attractive character.
