TC Candler's Review

B

A really intelligent 'slice of life' film that circles the search for happiness.

This film observes the theory that 'fate smiles on some and laughs at others', and ponders whether we are all living a random series of chance events that have no relevance to our actions or intentions.

Richard Propes' Comment

Made by the same team that brought us "Clockwatchers," "Thirteen Conversations About One Thing" is is an uneven but somewhat interesting film that shoots high and makes it about halfway. The film is essentially an essay on what makes us happy, but Todd Solondz provides a much more satisfying cinematic experience in his film "Happiness." Alan Arkin and John Turturro do wonders with the material, but McConaughey is out of his league here. This film is moderately successful, but once I was done watching the film I was also done thinking about it.
