"The
Terminator" is not an amazing film. But it is a groundbreaking piece of
pulp celluloid. Arnold is in fine from as the cyborg sent back to the
back to the past to kill the mother of the future resistance against
the machines. Fun to watch and most noteworthy for opening the door to
the brilliant sequel. Unlike Cameron's later films, "The Terminator"
is flawed. It's story is somewhat convoluted and the pacing is off
(particularly in the beginning). At least it tries to be an
intelligent thriller. Cameron had yet to completely mature as a
director (he would do so with "Aliens") and here he is obviously
experimenting. Experimental or not, this did introduce the world to
the greatest action director of all time. |

Still
terrifically entertaining after all these
years... I have enjoyed the sequels just as
much, if not more!
Richard Propes' Comment
The first
sentence says it all for Jacob..."The
Terminator" is not an amazing film. No, it's
not. It's a very average film.
