I see dead people!

M. Night Shyamalan proves himself to be a modern Hitchcock with "The Sixth Sense," a movie about a young child with the ability to see dead people.

Extremely effective in every way. Night's direction is suspenseful and exciting. The audience never knows what to expect, and when it does happen, it comes a shock. The script, also by Night, is full of so many twists and turns, it should be confusing, but thanks to good direction, it never is.

The acting is superb. Bruce Willis goes pst his usual tough guy demeanor to play a depressed child psychiatrist who is trying to help a troubled youngster (the very good Haley Joel Osment).

Scary without being bloody, and at the same time, touching, moving, and fascinating.

Richard Propes' Comment

This is, I believe, the highest rating I've ever given to a Bruce Willis film. To be honest, I'm sort of freaked about it. I've always considered Willis an action star at best, a hammy over-actor at worst. Here, he gives a remarkably sensitive portrayal. "The Sixth Sense" also brings us the young and talented Haley Joel Osment, and a marvelous, understated performance from Toni Collette as his mother. I never thought I'd say this, but I really like this Bruce Willis film.
