A
holiday delight!
I'd like to
give a logical explanation on why I rate this
film so highly. I simply can't. There's no real
logic to it, and I really didn't care for the
film at all the first time I saw it. I can tell
you it's about the only film where I don't find
the following irritating: Bobcat Goldthwait,
David Johansen and Carol Kane. It's one of my
favorite Karen Allen appearances, though I wish
her part were a bit more developed. Bill Murray
is generally endearing, though a couple times he
dances very close to annoying. I always love
Alfre Woodward...she's a bit bland here, but it
serves as a nice balance to her surroundings.
The cameos are plentiful in this film including
Robert Mitchum, Jamie Farr, Mabel King, Lee
Majors, Robert Goulet, Paul Shaffer and Miles
Davis. You have the wonderful Anne Ramsey's
final role here. It's a quirky Christmas
film...I wouldn't really call it a "classic" but
it certainly is one of my traditions.
