The
mystery is how this film found an audience!
I knew I was
in trouble when I saw the commercials and I just
didn't resonate with a computer generated
"Scooby." What I didn't realize at the time was
that computer generated "Scooby" would be the
highlight of the film. A weak script and poor
direction sink this film as the actors present
here are not nearly strong enough to overcome
the weak material. Freddie Prinze Jr., Sarah
Michelle Gellar (or is she going by Prinze
now?), Matthew Lillard and Linda Cardellini
aren't really what I would term "bad." They're
just not "good." They don't have a script that
allows them to shine, and they all end up being
shown up by a computer generated dog. You've got
to admire the band "Sugar Ray" for keeping
themselves in the public eye, but surely there
could have been better vehicles. This film is a
big disappointment...I grew up a "Scooby Doo"
fan and I can't help but think there's a lot of
missed potential here. It possibly qualifies as
a decent rental for kids. Possibly.

TC Candler's Comment
Kids will
like it because it has pretty colors and silly
voices. Kids are stupid like that.
However, I only found one thing worthwhile in
this film... Sarah Michelle Gellar & Linda
Cardellini in cute outfits. I am stupid
like that.
