"She was my Rushmore!"

"Rushmore" has a lot going for it...a wonderful, funny script by Owen Wilson & Wes Anderson. Solid direction by Anderson...great performances by Jason Schwartzman and Bill Murray. In short, it's a typical Wes Anderson film...if you are into that sort of thing, you will love this film. If not, you will likely be bored to tears.

Personally, I enjoy the humor of Anderson...even though I'll admit his films can, at times, bog down a bit in their intellectualizing. It was the same with "Royal Tenenbaum's"...you either loved it or hated it...very few people considered it a middle of the road film. I do think this film bogs down when it gets too serious, and I thought some of the scenes were a bit too vengeful for the tone of the film. They bothered me.

The ending is also a bit trite...though you have to love the Anderson ending shot...he does it in every film he directs...a slow motion shot.

Of course, it's always fun to note that character names tend to denote individuals Anderson knows. AND, an Anderson regular, Brian Tenenbaum, obviously had a strong impact on the director's next film "The Royal Tenenbaum's."

If you liked his other films, you will most likely love this one. If Anderson is not your think, I doubt this film will change your mind. Schwartzman and Murray make this a film to watch...Murray fans will love this performance. I recommend this film.
