Geoffrey Rush is frighteningly powerful!
I was tempted
to write here "read Ebert's review" and you can
just ditto it. Of course, my rating is just a
touch lower, but my thoughts and feelings are
very similar. I was impressed enough by Geoffrey
Rush's performance that I couldn't help but add
a "+" to my B...I think Phillip Kaufman's
director was a bit out of focus, and sometimes went for "shock
value" over the true essence of the film.
However, for Geoffrey Rush alone I have to
recommend this film. It is not, however, for
families or those easily offended. It is
definitely dark, and will not be appreciated by
all.
