Profound Connections...
Director Tom
Tykwer follows up his blockbuster hit, Run Lola
Run, with a more mature but somewhat less
energetic story about two lonely people that
destiny may or may not have brought together.
This is truly a filmmaker's film... not a studio
concoction.

Yes, it's
true. I'll confess it. I actually collect nurse
romance novels. I should count them, but I have
quite a few. It started as a joke and took off
from there. So, odds are if there's a film
featuring a nurse as a central character...well,
I'm going to watch it. Perhaps it's my over 50
surgeries...perhaps it's some weird fantasy.
Perhap's it's both. Regardless, "The Princess
and the Warrior," written and directed by Tom
Tykwer is, indeed, different from his hit "Run,
Lola Run." This film is more character-driven,
thought provoking and emotionally centered in
looking at destiny, love, loneliness, and the
paths we choose. Franka Potente is wonderful as
Nurse Sissi, a devoted nurse in an asylum who
experiences a chance encounter with a man who
may, or may not, be the man of her destiny.
