The classless Troy
Duffy directed a film, "Boondock Saints", for testosterone-heavy young
males that was essentially a Tarantino rip-off with a morally bankrupt
premise.
This documentary chronicles the hilarious collapse of the opportunity
afforded him. He caught an inexplicable break by getting Harvey
Weinstein to green-light his script, and through obnoxious,
ungrateful, rude, back-stabbing and ego-ridden behavior Duffy managed
to ruin any chance of his film getting a theatrical release and
virtually assured the fact that no one in Hollywood would ever work
with him or finance him again.
I am not sure that the medium of film has ever welcomed a more
despicable character. He is a thug and a loser and deserved everything
that happened to him after the shoot.
I took so much pleasure in watching "Overnight"... A documentary that
forever records this asshole for what he is and what he threw away. I
loved every minute of it. I almost feel like I have a vested interest
in seeing this guy crash and burn. Maybe it's because I hated his
bogus little attempted film. Maybe it is because the undeserved ego
bursts through every one of his self-congratulatory smirks. When you
hear his little speeches and delusions of grandeur, you will see what
I mean.
He probably thinks that his fate is a tragedy... perhaps a travesty.
In the end, the biggest tragedy is that this moron was ever given a
break in the first place. |
