She's chasing a dream...They're chasing her!
This film
took me two viewings to fully appreciate...it is
rather remarkable for a few reasons. First, the
pairing of Morgan Freeman and Chris Rock is
simply brilliant. Freeman is always wonderful,
but Chris Rock actually shows us a wonderful
character here.
I'll be honest, I didn't think he was capable of
this type of performance. Renee Zellweger does a
nice turn in the title role, and does a nice job
of showing both her comic and dramatic acting
chops. Greg Kinnear is also strong, however, his
character is much more of a one-note character.
Of course, I can never not mention Crispin
Glover...one of the most underrated actors out
there. In a smaller role, he makes his presence
well known.
Overall, this "Dark Comedy" will not appeal to
everyone but it is a solid choice for rental.
Fans of Zellweger, Freeman, Rock, Kinnear or
Glover will not be disappointed. Main Body of
