Almost passable...
This
isn't a very good film but, almost by
definition, it cannot be as bad as most of the
films it is lampooning. At least this movie
knows how stupid it is. I can almost respect
stupidity that is aware of itself. Many of the
gags work really well... but for each one that
does, there are two that don't. Keep only the
good stuff and there would be a tremendously
funny 30 minute short-film here. However, I
almost recommended the movie simply because it
had Mia Kirshner in a Catholic School Girl
Outfit. That is reason enough to watch the film
at least once!

I'm
actually amazed TC didn't enjoy "Not Another
Teen Movie" more. It's a marvelous take-off of
all the other teen movies, in the way that the
"Scary Movie" rips off horror movies (Of course,
TC doesn't care for the "Scary Movie" series
either). I loved this film even more than my "B"
rating indicates, and I own the DVD. The DVD
includes a marvelous to watch "Making of" and
video for Marilyn Manson's cover of Soft Cell's
hit 'Tainted Love." The actors here knew they
were in a spoof, and acted accordingly. The
scenes were so spot on perfect when compared to
old John Hughes flicks and other teen films. I
can't, in all honesty, consider it a "great
film," of course. Yet, it's one I still find
myself watching on a regular basis.
