The
truth...
I
won't typically review 'made for TV' films. But
in this case, because it is an HBO production,
and because the film is so compelling, I am
making an exception. The film is beautifully
shot in B&W and is primarily an on stage
interview with Monica Lewinsky herself. She
bravely sits in front of a large audience and
vows to answer any question they may have. There
are some heartbreaking moments and some very
funny moments, and through it all you can see
the charisma in this lovely young girl. She
intelligently and bravely discusses her naiveté
and her errors in judgment, all the while
lampooning Linda Tripp (pun intended) and
Kenneth Starr, the two primary creeps who
viciously worked for the Republican party in
their attempted witch hunt. This is a riveting
documentary, supremely well directed, and
expertly hosted by the woman who rocked the
Presidency. Monica has come a long way in the
last few years... she is no longer that naive
young intern... she is all grown up and ready to
tell the truth. Bravo to her!

I admit
it. I personally think Monica Lewinsky is damn
cute. If I were picking between her and Hillary,
well I'd love the conversations with Hillary but
everything else would be more more fun with
Monica. That said, this documentary is mostly a
"heard it already" experience that shed almost
new light on a subject that practically filled
the news reports for months.
