Hip Hop meets shop till you drop!

"Marci X" was likely in my Bottom 10 of 2003...this Lisa Kudrow/Damon Wayans vehicle centers around a Jewish-American Princess (Kudrow) who takes over a hardcore hip-hop label and tries to rein in its most controversial rapper (Wayans).

The entire storyline of this film is ludicrous, with incredibly abrupt shifts in character with no logic presented within the script. Characters seem to contradict themselves almost immediately...Along with Kudrow, you have Christine Baranski playing a conservative Senator whose shifts are remarkably stupid, abrupt and nonsensical.

Screenwriter Paul Rudnick has managed to create one of the most idiotic scripts I've witnessed on screen, and only a genuine fondness for Kudrow salvages any aspect of this film for me. Wayans overplays almost every scene he's in with a histrionic rapper that is more irritating than entertaining.

I have to say that even from the title "Marci X" I had a bad feeling about this film, but I held out hope that the idea could be salvaged. Nope, it was hopeless.
