Apart from the plot...

Vin Diesel stars in a poorly written action film that seems to be a direct rip off of Steven Seagal's work in the late 1980's. Diesel plays a drug enforcement cop whose wife is slain by the cartel leaders he is trying to bring down. He goes on a vengeance consumed tirade, which inevitably costs him his badge in the clichéd 'police chief' scene, and fights to find his way to the top of the cartel to exact some measure of justice. 'A Man Apart' is a weak and unoriginal effort.
