I
don't want it.
"Malibu's
Most Wanted" is the "It's Pat" of the rap world.
(Sorry NYC. hehe)...it takes what was an
amusing, somewhat entertaining on a sketch
comedy and tries to give it an extended period
of time front and center in a major feature
film. This trend must die...Stop it, I say, Stop
it!
B-rad is an amusing enough idea...and Jamie
Kennedy certainly can be funny, as evidenced by
his short-lived but somewhat acclaimed Jamie
Kennedy Experiment. Yet, this film never moves
beyond this one joke premise into anything
remotely watchable. A talented cast is largely
wasted here including Kennedy, Taye Diggs,
Anthony Anderson, Regina Hall, Blair Underwood,
Jeffrey Tambor, Ryan O'Neal and, yes, even Bo
Derek is in this flick. Kennedy is actually
pretty funny here...he knows this character and
inhabits him well...but he is surrounded by
Anderson and Diggs...who clearly are out of
their element. Diggs, in particular, is just not
this kind of actor and woefully miscast. The
script is just an expansion of the
character...so nothing special here...Jamie
Kennedy fans will find this more amusing than
the general public...I wouldn't rent this one,
but a late night cable view is alright.
