Italian Cool...
L'Avventura one of the most detached and
coldhearted films of all time, teasing the
audience with plot lines and hints of truth.
This story of a missing woman is hypnotic to
watch and will have you steeped in thought as
the closing credits roll. This is a classic of
Italian cinema!!!

It is rare
for me to connect with a film that is so cold
and devoid of hope. Antonioni's film is
mesmerizing largely because it refuses, under
any circumstances, to sell out. The characters
presented here are presented without compromise
and without hesitation. There really isn't a
dull moment in the film, and I must confess the
first time I viewed the film I kept expecting
there to be some sort of emotional bridge built.
This bridge is never built, and the film ends
much as it begins. While I'll acknowledge a
preference for Fellini's "La Dolce Vita," this
film remains one that I respect even though I
can't say I really enjoy it.
