Too
familiar a plot...
A
strong and beautiful woman, living the good
life, has her world shattered by the actions of
a man! She is then faced with fighting the
system, and the law, to overcome obstacles that
are seemingly insurmountable! Sound familiar?
Come on Ashley! I liked this movie the first
three times it was released when it was called
'Double Jeopardy' and 'Kiss the Girls' and 'Eye
of the Beholder'... for the love of God... do
something even remotely different!!! All that
being said, she is as capable as always, and the
film is just about recommendable... but don't go
out of your way to see it.
There's nothing severely wrong with the film,
although it is slightly implausible in places,
but it is just such a standard and routine plot
that it won't stay in the memory very long. In
ten years you won't be able to tell the Ashley
Judd films apart.
One of the stupid moments occurs when the bad
guys try to kill Ashley by driving in front of
her car and spraying the road with oil. This is
straight out of 'Animalympics' or 'Roadrunner'
cartoons! Why don't they just shoot them in the
head? It would be easier & more assured to work.
I guess that way they wouldn't have a movie.
PS -- Here are two clichés that should be
eliminated from movies altogether... The bad guy
with a scar on his face... and the last second
bit of evidence, hidden from us throughout, that
twists the plot on it's ear!
