One of Nolte's Best...

This movie is packed with 'noir cool'... the kind of cool that will make you smirk with the knowing that you will never achieve that level of coolness. 'The Good Thief' is simultaneously a heist flick, a redemptive character study, and a movie about style and etiquette amongst thieves and the detectives that chase them.

Nick Nolte stars, in one of his very best roles, as Bob, a weary gambler and thief who is plotting a casino robbery. (The film is a loose remake of the classic 'Bob le Flambeur'). But first, he has to sober up by detoxing cold-turkey from his debilitating drug habit. He is a tired and weather beaten man who has just enough energy to pull off one last big score. Nolte seems born to play this part. Tchéky Karyo is the detective who knows his prey all too well and does his best to thwart the impending theft. Nutsa Kukhianidze plays the elegant young woman, with issues of her own, who seems to spark Bob's interest and brings him to life again. This very European film is a riveting story of redemption and knowledge that can only be gained from a lifetime of mistakes. GREAT FILM!!!
