Get Your Freak On! |

"Freaky
Friday" is an excellent way to spend the evening with your family.
It's clever, well-made, and laugh-out-loud funny.
Jamie Lee Curtis stars a mother and businesswoman who is soon getting
married and has had enough of her rock music loving daughter. The
daughter, played by Lindsay Lohan, has had enough of her controlling
mother, who just doesn't understand her. Things get shaken up when,
after opening magical fortune cookies, they trade bodies. Now, the
daughter must live the day as her mother and vice-versa.
Curtis steals the show here. She plays the mother straightforward, but
when the body swap occurs, she turns on the acting magic. Her
representation of youth is dead-perfect. Her manner of speech, her
slouch, her attitude, her EVERYTHING is a spot-on job of what the
character was presented as when she was in her normal body. To a
lesser extent, Lohan is also quite good. This is Curtis' show, though.
She got a Golden Globe nod, but she deserved an Oscar.
A stupid ending hurts what is otherwise very good family fun |

It always
freaks me out when we all three again on a film.
As a fan of the original, I was skeptical about
this film. Yet, truly, Jamie Lee Curtis is
outstanding here and offers her best performance
in years. Lohan is her usual winning self, but
not quite up to Curtis's performance. Among the
"age swap" films, this remains my
favorite...both the original film and this
remake. On a side note, I've always loved Mark
Harmon. It's nice to see him back in a film.
