Ben Stiller and Drew Barrymore overload...

'Duplex' is an absolutely abysmal one-joke comedy whose lone gag would grow tiresome five minutes into a cancelled sit-com pilot.

During the moments that the film expects the audience to be laughing, I found myself cocking my head in stern confusion wondering how anyone could have expected laughter.

This is a lazy effort by all involved. It is clearly a paycheck movie for the lead stars, Ben Stiller and Drew Barrymore, whose mouth seems to crawl further toward her right ear with each new film.

The film lacks a convincing plot, amiable characters and laugh-out-loud jokes. It feels like it was actually written by a 9 year old.

There are about 53 other Ben Stiller movies on the market right now. I suggest you try almost any of them rather than having to endure this lame duck.

Richard Propes' Comment

True story: My nickname in high school was "Swoosie" after the actress Swoosie Kurtz. Admit it, you laughed. You've now laughed more than you will at any time during this film.
