Life is one long insane trip. Some people just have better directions. |

Donnie
is a troubled teen who sees a giant rabbit named Frank who tells him
to commit strange acts and eventually warns him of the apocalypse.
Yep, it's just as weird as it sounds. But it's not a gross weird, it's
a dark, intriguing weird. The type of weird that sucks you in, stirs
your brain up some, and makes you say, "Wow."
The acting is great, especially from Jake Gyllenhaal as Donnie. The
story and script are brilliantly bizarre, and the numerous plot twists
will make your head spin. The ending kept he pondering for at least
three days; it's all so very mind bending!
My one complaint with "Donnie Darko" is the same reason I like it so
much. The story, while intriguing, is confusing, and some of the
twists make little sense.
But the writing! The atmosphere! That creepy rabbit! It keeps me
coming back, and I enjoy this film more every time. |

TC Candler's Comment
I can't quite
grasp why this film has such a rabid cult
following. It was mildly intriguing and
quirky... but I never felt the "magic" that some
others did.
Richard Propes' Comment
I'm with
TC on this one, though I do think we catch a
glimpse of Jake Gyllenhaal's future.
