In all honesty, I didn't expect to like 'The Chronicles of Riddick," however it had a couple cast members I enjoy typically in Judi Dench and Thandie Newton. Judi? Honey? Did you need the money this badly? What could have possibly motivated you to consider this tripe?

Sadly, the film starts off with a Dench voiceover that is hilariously sad...and Newton's performance is most certainly the worst I've ever seen from her. This type of film is clearly not her, and all the promise of her appearance in the film "Flirting" and others is thrown away here.

This film features extremely low-grade special effects, but most horridly it features Vin Diesel trying to be a leading man. Vin Diesel is NOT capable of being a leading man and we need to stop trying. He can be a supporting actor...he can be a mindless action star...but, he is NOT a leading man. period. Stop it.

David Twohy helmed this film, so the potential was there for an entertaining film. Somehow, it just got mired down in stupidity. Every aspect of this film just felt cheap and meaningless. Judi Dench in a meaningless film just seems wrong...painfully wrong.

"The Chronicles of Riddick" is a major disappointment to most, a minor disappointment to me. I didn't expect much...I didn't get much.

TC Candler's Comment

I really liked "Pitch Black", but this is a complete mess of a sequel.  My brain literally shut down about half way into this jumbled concoction... which, coincidentally, put me on a mental par with Vin Diesel.
