Naughty girls need love too...
An abused girlfriend is saved from a beating by
a total stranger in the middle of the night on a
lonely street. The stranger accidentally kills
the boyfriend when she swings a piece of
scaffolding into his head. The two girls, scared
out of their minds fearing that no one will
believe the story, take the body home to figure
out what they should do. They connect as friends
and concoct a story that will not only save
their hides but make them a tidy $1,000,000
profit. Needless to say, the caper does not go
according to plan and they reel as they try to
cover up all their mistakes. A corrupt cop and a
vengeful brother stand in their way and we watch
as they try to salvage the plan, their
friendship, and the money.
If for nothing else, watch this film for the
pleasure of seeing Rachel Weisz as a Blonde. I
think I could actually watch that girl sleep for
two hours and be totally engrossed.
The film is like a calmer version 'Reservoir
Dogs' but with girls. This film is probably
worth a rental on a Wednesday night when nothing
else is on.

Propes' Comment
TC has only
one slight weakness as a writer. He is, on
occasion, blinded by lust. Take this generous
review of "Beautiful Creatures," for example. By
the end of the film, TC is clearly remembering
Weisz and not the devastating mediocrity that
surrounded her. Weisz is, indeed, stunningly
beautiful and she lights up the screen in every
film she makes. She does not, however, turn
mediocre films into acceptably "B' range films.
Throw on top of this the mediocrity and a reckless
script, and you are left with a film that is
undeniably a "C" range film.

First of
all... That is not a writing weakness.
Second of all... It is not true. There
have been thousands of gorgeous women in
dreadful films and I have graded them as such.
That Rachel Weisz also happens to be resplendent
in everything she does only compliments the
quality of the films. "Beautiful
Creatures" is original and exciting and fun.
It isn't Oscar material... simply a worthwhile
DVD rental.
