I was, and
remain, very tempted to add this film to my Top
100. It is a film I watch nearly every chance I
get. I've always been a fan of 50s music, and it
certainly is plentiful in this film. With the
likes of Ron Howard, Richard Dreyfuss, Paul
LeMat, Cindy Williams and so many others this
film is just a joy to watch. George Lucas
created a film with a wonderful feel for the
50s, a fairly reasonable plot line and mostly
realistic dialogue. So, why is it not yet in my
Top 100? While it's high on my fun factor, when
I watch this film with a more critical eye I
become aware that the acting is a bit stiff at
points. Also, the script bounces a bit too much
and the character development is wishy-washy
with the more secondary characters. Who knows?
It may yet climb up on my chart. For now, I can
just say I love this movie.
