Richard Propes' Review

B+

For me, this film is another classic. That said, I can't say it's high on my "watchability" list. That is, having seen the film I don't really crave to see it again. Still, Broderick Crawford did a wonderful job as Willie Stark. He was supported well by Anne Seymour and Mercedes McCambridge among others. I'm not a big fan of the script...it's a bit flat at times, and too "hit ya over head" at other times. It's as if it's trying to be a classic. It just tries too hard. Still, it works on many levels and it's a film I respect.
