I paid 50
cents to see this film...I got ripped off. It
still amazes me that a guy who can be so funny
can make so many really crappy films. This film
just doesn't work on almost any level. If it
weren't for his basic comedic presence, this
Eddie Murphy vehicle would be an "F." The film
co-stars Randy Quaid (continuing his downslide),
Rosario Dawson and the usually reliable Luis
Guzman. There are some great smaller roles here
featuring the likes of Jay Mohr, Ileana Douglas,
Burt Young, Joe Pantoliano and even Pam Grief
AND John Cleese...Yet, this film is just awful.
The script doesn't work, there's little
chemistry among the cast and the direction is
horribly uneven. I have to believe that even
fans of Eddie Murphy will be disappointed with
this effort.
